What is a Chaplain?

The long history of chaplaincy begins as early as Numbers 31:6 with Phinehas, a Levite and grandson of Aaron, who responded to Moses’ call to Phinehas, was sent by Moses to assist with religious services in the battlefield. It is from that point the ministry know as the Chaplain has grown.

Some of the earliest recorded Chaplaincy work performed in America by Chaplain John Gano, a Baptist minister from New York City. Gano served as a military chaplain under General George Washington during the Revolutionary War.

Throughout history, Spirit-led chaplains have responded to the call of God to minister to a variety of people’s needs, when ever, where ever, any time. No church building required.

Pastors serve inside a church building, Chaplains serve those who cannot, or will not, attend regular services. This includes those in hospitals, nursing homes, prisons and jails, sporting events, military, disasters. That is the Chaplain’s Church. Our goals are simple, Salvation, Healing, and being set free from spiritual bondage. The majority of Chaplains minister across denominational lines, staying true to scripture, not endorsing any particular denomination.
